Dr. Kristina Kotoff studied human medicine and biology at the Lomonosov Moscow State University in Moscow, Russia and received her diploma in 2000. In 2005, she obtained the Ph.D. degree from the University of Münster for her work in molecular biology at the Max- Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, Germany.

Thereafter, she undertook various research projects, such as elucidation of inflammatory processes and autoimmune diseases, at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine and at the Institute for Physiological Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry, both in Münster.

Following a three-year professional training at a renowned intellectual property law firm in Munich including distance study of law for German Patent Attorneys at the University of Hagen, Germany, followed by a period of legal training at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court of Germany, Dr. Kotoff was admitted as German Patent Attorney in 2010.

Since 2011 Dr. Kotoff has been working as a registered Patent Attorney and assisting clients in European and German intellectual property laws, in particular patents and utility models in the fields of molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, pharmacy, immunology, medical technology, protein chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology as well as chemistry.

Her practical activities focus on patent examination, opposition and appeal proceedings before the European and German Patent Offices.

Dr. Kotoff is fluent in German, Russian (mother tongue) and English.
